The New Hope
Wastewater Treatment Plant is located north of New
Hope on Rt. 778 (Knightly Mill Road.) From
Interstate 81, take Exit 227 and turn east onto
Route 612 (Laurel Hill Road). Go 5.3 miles until you
reach the stopsign at the intersection of Rt. 608.
Turn left onto Battlefield Road and go 2.3 miles.
Turn left onto Rt. 778. Go approximately 0.5 miles
to an access road on the right before a row of white
pine trees.

The New Hope
Wastewater Treatment Plant provides wastewater
treatment for the New Hope community. The design
capacity is 0.039 mgd. Preliminary treatment
consists of a manual bar screen. The wastewater then
flows to the aeration basin followed by secondary
clarification and chlorination. Effluent is
discharged to Middle River. The biosolids treatment
process consists of aerobic digestion. Currently,
the biosolids are shipped to the Middle River
Regional WWTP for further processing. Our Sludge
Management Plan also allows us to use land
application or to use the belt filter press for
dewatering with the biosolids transported to the
landfill and mixed with soil and wood chips for a
soil augmentation program.
